Five Levels:
- Cultural - History, cultural identity, socialisation, social construction of gender stereotypes, hegemonic masculinity,
ethnic background
For example. Historically women weren't involved in sport and physical activity, therefore lowering activity levels - Structural - Policies, funding, media, development programs, marketing, sponsorship
For example. Funding that is supplied to increase activity levels in the elderly. - Institutional - Community, school, facilities, rules, religion
For example. If and how the community supports the elderly in physical activity. - Interpersonal - Peers, family, teachers, coaches, role models
For example. One's involvement due to socialisation. - Individual - Values, attitudes, personality, genes
For example. Does the individual believe in physical activity?
